New SIM card for secure transactions introduced

The Munich-based technology group Giesecke & Devrient (G & D) has presented a new SIM card, which is equipped with special security features. The so-called SkySIM CX Hercules make mobile transactions more convenient and future-proof.

Giesecke & Devrient (G & D) has developed the new SIM card against the background that transactions cashless money transfer are increasingly carried out with mobile devices. In addition, digital tickets are increasingly being solved and mobile devices are increasingly used at the secure access control facilities. All this makes the use of secure technology to protect sensitive data necessary.

Thanks to a interplay of a new chip design and software that can personalize multiple applications simultaneously and safely at high speed run with the SkySIM CX Hercules. As a partner of well-known companies such as American Express, MasterCard and Visa have already been won. G & D offers claims to be the first manufacturer to a smart solution that has received all relevant certifications of the payment service provider.

An application is possible as a classic plug-in card and beyond as so-called embedded Secure Element (eSE) with additional interfaces to core components in the mobile terminal. That means a secure connection to the application processor of the phone and thus additional security of mobile services, the manufacturer promises.
